"Hot Dogging" and the reverse need some authority here

Its against the rules to 'hot dog' into a system to blow them up, but it should also be against the rules to F1 into another character to avoid being blown up.
There are 2~3 major offenders here, i mean major in that they almost certainly do it every single time no matter what.
a character named HORVIS and the alter ego HORVIS. and HORVIS..
also a few members of the DA clan do this as well
soon as you enter the system, they dock or jump into their other characters, if they are docked, they let their characters get timed out and kicked from the server or they dock in a clans system and then leave the server
then these people cry not to be shot at and then antagonize the people they are crying to about breaking rules and whatnot.
i really think there should be major penalties for these people... its worse than F1'ing out of combat and its really starting to get annoying

This issue has been discussed before, but unfortunately no changes in rules were made, and i dont think that there will be, because:
1. From RP perspective, civillians will always run from troubles. They are not interested in loosing their goods or ship, so its realistic that they will run to the nearest base and ask for a shelter untill the danger is over.
2. Players might not want to PvP, and there might be multiple reasons like, they are outgunned or have hardware issues etc etc so, the outcome is predictable since in this case, Killers leave no other options for them. I as a pirate would do the same thing, unless you carry something valuable that i can sell.
3. People might have RL situation when they have to leave the game asap. Punishing them in this case is the least fair thing that could be done.
4. Even if they will act like that, how youre going to prove that unless admin was following the players list? (we need a cool new name for this reverse hot dogging situation).

have to agree with you mate on this one i watched COP matrix chase horvis from alaska to dantes inferno. there was no RP i asked him his faction in case i could assist him all i got was funny replys so i did not assist him.
so matrix carried on the chase where horvis promptly docked in dantes inferno and logged off??
matrix was not too pleased and neither would i have been
i am not sure what can be done. but childish behaviour does not help our RP.
so please for those that have a tendancy to do this sort of thing remember its only a game and you do not really die
so why not try too RP you never know you could have some fun and in the process learn to fight
by the same token if the pursuer is in a battleship and your in a fighter or freighter then run you cant win
so for the old hands on here sabre only use battleships in defense not too hunt if you are in a battleship dont be suprised if pilots run and if you use a battleship a lot dont be suprised if they run before you are in scanner range
theres a lesson somewhere in that last paragraph

Truth is, I don't know how to call this one, except, if someone doesnt want to participate in RP, then stuff 'em!! Leave em alone and ignore them. Maybe one day you'll catch them out
Cheers, Pokey

hopefully, when the TT universe gets smaller with the next upgrade (as promised) the frustration tolerance level will increase again

I don't remember the modding team saying there will be less systems in Common destiny mod (i think we should name it now), but i can be wrong.

read and understood snow mate but correct me if i am wrong you use RP to do it so your pursuer knows he/she is in a race
you dont go to the edge of the map and logg off???

It's either that or a priority-kill order is issued. We here at APOC Corp. do not have KOS orders, because everyone falls under that category of buisness.

im not one to say that a character doesnt have the ability to run and hide... but constantly switching characters to avoid confrontation is another. its basicly opening the door to allow accusations to be thrown about of cheating and poor sportsmanship
i will admit that a freighter has no bearing in a pvp battle, might as well just sit still when in range of weapons fire, but when a freighter runs to a base (unloaded or without any cargo whatso-ever) they have ultimately made it to 'home base' if this were a game of tag... but it isnt... this is a flight combat sim... if you do dock after being chased down fine, you made it to dock, but then to log into another character and persue the same systems only to be confronted by the same person that chased you in there and do the same once the chaser has moved over a system constantly switching back and forth from one to the other, basicly teleporting to get the attacking person/persons to switch systems is untollerable and again is poor sportsmanship. its basicly saying "oh here i am" wait no "im over here now" blagh blagh blagh but when you chase these people into a system, they dock and switch to a different character and you do the same, they say your hot dogging... i say SO WHAT... i chased you in such and such a character, with such and such a character
should remove the hotdogging rule so people can really REALLY see what hotdogging is and let them cry then
was talking with another 'unnamed' player tonight about some possible concequences of poor sportsmanship, and this player did laugh but as much as its happening lately, i think it should be quite drastic of a penalty
in my opinion if given the authority, i would inflict the following fines for the offences:
*deliberate F1 while in combat: to avoid being blown up for whatever reason (carrying cargo/weapons or whatever) that accounts bank gets wiped to 0 because its basicly saying, ill engage in combat as long as i win, if im not winning you wont either and my stats dont change... basicly a long way of saying they cant be blown up
*being chased from a combat situation, then docking, logging into another character in a different system till the chaser moves on or logs off, then the chasee logs back into the docked character (subjected to a specific time frame pre-set say 20 minutes)... the players current ships $ holding is wiped to 0 along with cargo and/or anything not mounted to the ship
dont know if this is possible, but if a players rank can be dropped to 0 or they cant do any damage to other players after committing some offence that would be equally punishing, even not be able to blow up npc's. all they could do is fly around, no missions, no pvp, or all the characters on the account get moved into an empty system for a few days
rediculous i tells ya rediculous

I did of course inform the admins of the situation, and even though there was no drastic action taken at that time, this player was 'tagged' in other words he is being watched. No doubt there will be repercussions for this player would he be spotted again.
Personally I find this behavior unacceptable and of poor sportsmanship. It is disrespectful to those who do put an effort in playing their RP right and spend their sometimes very limited playing time playing it. It also creates a lot of bad feelings among the players involved. If it were to happen to a player who is fairly new to the server, it would not leave a very good impression of how we play our game here. This is what worries me most.
I can assure you that the admin team will always try to create and maintain a fair a playing environment as they can. Things like this are also under discussion, and I have no doubt there will be constructed some sort of solution for it. For the time being, the best advise I could give you is to make screen shots of the encounter as best you can, and present your case to one of the admins in a discrete manor. The situation will then be discussed among the admins and action will be taken. The admins are not always there with you to witness the event first-handed, so this is the best way to go for now. And the more information they receive the better they can create a picture of the situation.
I hope that helps for now.
